Several unused properties will be demolished at Imatra this fall

The demolition of the buildings will start from Tainiotalo, which has been used by the labor college for the past few years. The Vocational College will move to the newest premises at the start of autumn activities. The demolition concerns a school building built in the 60s. The canteen building built a few years ago and the old school building built in the 30s remain on the hill of the school, which shelters artists and craft enthusiasts. At the moment, most of the premises in the building are already booked. 

The list to be demolished also includes the Mansikkala daycare center, from where the children will transfer to other daycare centers in the area and to the new Mansikkala school center. 

To be demolished from Vuoksenniska are Havrinne 1, which will be partially replaced by the new Taitein talo. The former nursing home Kukkurila is now a property owned by Attendo and will be demolished at the owner's expense. 

Kielorinne in Karhumäki is also on the demolition list, but its demolition is still uncertain, because there are cables in the building from its former use, which must be cleared before demolition. 

- Demolition will start from Tainiotalo, which has already been tendered for demolition. Next in line are Mansikkala daycare center and Havurinne 1, he says Pasi Huoponen from Mitra Imatra Rakennuttaja Oy. 

Of the buildings to be demolished, Tainiotalo, Mansikkala kindergarten and Havurinne 1 suffer from indoor air problems, Kukkurila and Kielorinne became unnecessary. 

The demolition of the buildings will begin in September.
