Karhumäki area

Karhumäki is a district of about 1600 inhabitants almost in the middle of Imatra.  

The administrative center of Imatra with its services is located approximately 3 km away. The best aspects of Karhumäki are the proximity of Saimaa and Vuoksi and the beautiful nature. Great jogging paths start almost from your own yard and the waterways provide good opportunities for various recreational activities and, for example, fishing. The nearby forests, formed from old trees, invite you for a run, a berry or a mushroom. The terrain between Ukonniemi and Mustalami has excellent outdoor trails, well-maintained ski slopes and a beach. 

A lively sports and tourism area has emerged in the Ukonniemi area. The Ukonniemi - Rauha area consists of two spa hotels, restaurants and several holiday apartment properties. The area offers versatile sports and outdoor activities. The Ukonniemi area, located on the Imatra side, currently has more than 2000 beds, but with development projects, the number of beds will increase to more than 10 beds.

Among other things, a two-track ice rink, a tennis hall, a multi-purpose hall for playing ball and other sports, a biathlon-baseball stadium and outdoor trails with sign systems have been implemented in the area. The area has a pist network that meets international standards, a first snow pist, and a ski area to support young people's skiing practice and educational activities.

The Ukonniemi sports field, renovated in 2017, and a practice field covered with artificial grass for football players are located in the area. A full-scale frisbee golf course has also been built in Ukonniemi, which is in lively use. The Imatra spa operating in the area also offers a versatile selection of different sports facilities and activities, such as restaurant, health and spa services. The spa also has a bowling alley as well as gyms and a sports hall.
