Renewing mobility in the South Karelia region

Current state

In areas with a small population and density, the challenge is to find troops that can be transported in open public transport. Transport needs are so diverse,
that transports tied to a schedule and a route are often not very economical in these areas. New, based on interoperability
the service models have not spread outside the big cities and there is a risk that small cities will be left without mobility services in the future.

Project measures

Imatra is the administrator and main implementer in the joint project of the cities of Imatra and Lappeenranta, the Southeast Finland ELY Center and Eksote. Digital
with the mobility service environment and the opportunities brought by the new mobility services act, it is possible to create completely new types of transport services
to cities and municipalities with lower population density. At the same time, the digital environment brings a commercial interface and a ticket interface to all actors who
want to use the data generated in the environment in their own business. In the project, an innovative procurement including platform and interface solutions and piloting related to the platform and interface solution will be carried out.
