Children with an immigrant background are placed in the preschool groups of their local school. In addition to the goals of preschool education, the purpose of teaching is to strengthen the student's language skills. Finnish language skills are assessed for preschoolers every year in January-February. Based on the test, children who need language learning support are referred to preparatory education.
Preparatory education for immigrant children between the ages of 7 and 16 is organized at Koske's school. Those children from multilingual families who have not needed preparatory education receive support and support measures in their own nearby schools (Finnish as a second language teaching, remedial teaching and teaching in their own mother tongue).
