

There are three school centers in Imatra, each with one upper or unified school and one or more elementary schools and kindergartens. There is one school district in the city. At Imatra, in accordance with the curriculum, flexible solutions suitable for different residential areas are implemented in uniform basic education.
The city assigns each student a school place. The school designated by the city is called a neighborhood school. Local school is not always the school closest to home. The guardian has the opportunity to apply for a school place for his child at another school as well. The decision on the matter is made by the principals of the schools. If the student studies the so-called in secondary school, the guardian is responsible for the transport costs.
A school place at a secondary school is applied for again every year.
Vuoksenniska school center basic education is given (grades 1-9) and the Jopo class (Flexible basic education) and special groups also operate there; VIP classes and small classes.

In the Koski school center basic education is given (grades 1-9). In addition to general education, Koski's school offers the opportunity to study in bilingual classes in English. Jopo classes also operate at Koski's school.
In the same building as the Koski school, there is a foundation-owned school that focuses on teaching the Russian language and Russian culture. Finnish-Russian school in Eastern Finland, where basic education is given in grades 1–9.

- Decisions regarding the next school year will be made during the spring
- Decisions regarding the current academic year will be made as soon as possible

Wilma IDs will be sent to the guardians of new students. In December, guardians will receive more detailed instructions on registering their child to school. In accordance with the instructions, the school is registered primarily through the Wilma program. If the guardian does not use Wilma, registration is done with a paper form.
