The tapings bring the historical landscape of Imatra to the street scene in a new way

of Henrik Frondelius ja Anna Aavajoki the work made will be realized as large-scale prints on masking tape and will be installed as window coverings as part of Väärätalo.
The tapes will be installed on the large windows at Väärätalo's street level on the side of Matinkatu, göškatu and Jukankatu.

Tentatively, the installation of the tapes will begin in the second week of April. Installation can be started weather permitting, when there are enough temperatures during the day.

Each picture has its own story

— Views of the Imatra landscape have been selected for the photo series, paying attention to the importance and permanence of the places as part of the landscape, as well as the historical nature of the places. The characters in the pictures show the presence of the locality's long history in a living street scene, says Frondelius, an artist from Imatra.
Color has been brought to the black and white landscape pictures with characters and events painted by the artist Anna Aavajoki, which turn the pictures into little stories.

In the Kulmille idea competition, there were several proposals for adding art to the street scene

— With this, we aim to meet these wishes and at the same time improve the facade of Väärätalo, says the project manager of the Elävä Imatrankoski project Tuija Valkeapää.

— Even when processing the sketches, we noticed that each time you look at the pictures, something new to look at emerges. Using art in demolition sites and as a temporary solution is a good way to present different art styles, he continues.

The draft of Väärätalo's site plan change is currently being prepared

Preliminary outlines of a possible formula solution have been drawn up, but no final formula plan exists yet.

— The construction history survey and condition survey of the Väärätalo building have recently been completed, and in the plan work, among other things, the impact of the results of these surveys on the plan decision will be evaluated. The development plan of Imatrankoski will also be taken into account when drafting the plan change, commented the planning architect Sami Tynkkynen.

More information about the development activities in the Vääräntalo area is to be announced in May.
