The bidding process for construction contract calculation is about to start. Demolition work can be done in early autumn at the latest.

The repair plan for Imatra's central station has been completed.

According to the plan, the wing in the direction of Tainionkoskentie will be demolished. The first two floors of the wing parallel to the station will be renovated. The third floor will be demolished and a new waiting room will be built in its place.

Office and retail spaces are planned for the two floors to be renovated.

—The construction of these premises will not be started at this stage, but they are in the plan as space reservations, the developer Pasi Huoponen Mitra from Imatra Rakennuttaja Oy says.

The bidding process for the construction contract calculation for demolition work and renovation is starting soon. The goal is for the city council to process the offers in June.

The renovation of the station starts removal of chattels and harmful substances with a bite. If the bidding proceeds as planned, the building horsesthe demolition work will be allowed to start during late summer or early autumn.

The property will be fenced off during the demolition and construction work, and access to the interior will be cut off. Temporary access routes are arranged for the station platform. More information about the closure of the station's interior and the passageways during the renovation will be provided after the schedule has been clarified.

Thanks to the train station area…

Thank you for the plans to promote the railway station area. A quick thought on the matter:

I would like to draw attention to the fact that the location of the planning area would be exceptionally good for so-called hybrid construction, considering the fast transport connections (railway, road) and Vuoksi's recreation opportunities.

Based on experience, adding residential and commercial spaces in the immediate vicinity of high-speed connections improves vitality and attractiveness. In Imatra, it would expand the opportunities for residents to work and do hobbies not only in Imatra but also in other cities, but still living in Imatra. At the same time, it would promote the goals of sustainable development. There are good experiences in building station areas into urban residential and regional centers.

So would it be possible to supplement the plan and consider making reservations for a new settlement and commercial premises in the station area? Also taking into account the good location of the place along the Vuoksi River, which will probably attract new residents and businesses to the area better than the scattered construction that has been implemented so far, far from fast transport links and services.
