The station's repair plan is supposed to be completed during the spring.

The renovation of Imatra's central transport station is taking the next step.

The city is in the process of redeeming the remaining shares of Kiinteistö Oy Imatra Keskuasema. After that, the real estate company of the transport station is fully owned by the city.

Currently, the city owns 95,2% of the company. The remaining 4,8% is owned by Oy Teboil Ab.

The purchase of shares is practically a prerequisite for the renovation of the central transport station to be carried out as planned.

—Implementation without the city's full ownership is legally difficult, for example because the real estate company is covered by housing association legislation, and the shareholders have already previously agreed on the demolition of the buildings, city manager Matias Hilden says.

An agreement has been negotiated with Teboil, according to which Teboil will transfer its ownership of the real estate company to the city. In return, Teboil gets the land lease right for a new fuel distribution station in the Mansikkala area. The first two years of the land lease would be rent-free and the value of the actual deed of exchange would be 30 euros. Teboil has previously had a planning reservation for the station.

The city government processes the contract on Monday 29.1.

The repair plan will be completed during the spring

The planning of the central transport station was started in 2022. At that time, the partners involved in the real estate company entered into an agreement with the city, according to which they financed the demolition of the station with additional company fees. In the same context, the shareholders, except for Teboil, sold their shares to the city of Imatra.

According to the original plan, the central transport station was to be demolished and a new building was to be built in its place. The changed conditions of recent years are changed the plan, and now the purpose is to partially demolish the old station building. The building is partially renovated.

Demolition work has started on the wing on the Tainionkoskentie side. The station's repair plan is supposed to be completed by the end of March.
