Imatra is building a new outdoor gym in Ukonniemi

The city of Imatra is building a new outdoor gym in Ukonniemi. It will be located below Ossi Karttunen's name stairs.

Mitra Imatra Rakennuttaja is responsible for the construction.

─ The first device installations will start next week. It will be ready in June, developer Henry Tapiola says.

The outdoor gym will be equipped with the same style of equipment as is already in use at the fitness center next to the Linnala field. In addition, personal body weight training equipment will be placed in Ukonniemi.

─ In Ukonniemi, you can get quite a good set for fitness enthusiasts. It is aimed at exercisers of all ages, Tapiola states.

The outdoor gym with equipment and work will cost around 66 euros.

According to the preliminary plan, the opening of the outdoor gym will be held on June 22.6. The city will inform more about the event later.

Next, Vuoksenniska

In recent years, Imatra has invested in outdoor fitness facilities. The work is still going on.

In the future, it will be Vuoksenniska's turn. Fitness stairs and an outdoor gym are initially planned there. There is an allocation for planning this year, and the construction schedule will be specified later.

A sports venue will also be built in Vuoksenniskan's Huvikumpu during this summer and autumn. The wishes of the elderly have been especially taken into account in its design. Among other things, Vuoksenniska's pensioners have been asked for ideas.

─ It is a low-threshold barrier-free exercise place where the focus is on stretching and balance exercises, city gardener Erika Luhtanen says.

Hukumpu will be completed this summer.
