The city of Imatra introduces a new ethical notification channel

Through the new channel, employees can report anonymously the abuses and inappropriate behavior they encounter.

The city of Imatra will introduce a new ethical notification channel at the beginning of April. The purpose of the channel is to highlight grievances and guarantee equal and consistent treatment of all reports.

Through the reporting channel, an employee of the city or a subsidiary can submit their observations or concerns about activities that are against the ethical principles or laws of the Imatra City Group. You can make a report, for example, about detected financial abuses, misuse of information and property, or improper behavior.

- The new reporting channel guarantees that every report is processed in the same way and in a consistent manner, inspection manager Arja Kekki says.

The new notification channel makes it easier to raise grievances. An anonymous reporting channel is also required by the EU directive (2019/1937). It requires that industries that have social significance must implement an anonymous reporting channel by the end of 2021. The directive applies, among other things, to public administration (the state and municipalities with more than 10 inhabitants) and organizations with more than 000 employees or whose business is financial services.

The ethical notification channel is to be approved next Monday in the city council.
