Koulukatu will be closed at the end of Tainionkoskentie on Monday

The modification works at the junction of Koulukatu and Tainionkoskentie continue to cause inconvenience to traffic.

─ The renovation works will last until the end of July. The traffic lights are replaced by a roundabout. In addition, waste lanes for school children will be built on the side of Tainionkoskentie for the new school center. In addition, an underpass that will substantially improve the traffic safety of students is under construction under Koulukatu, city engineer Päivi Pekkanen says.

Due to renovation works, two bus stops on Tainionkoskentie were taken out of use in March. Since the schools now returned to classroom teaching, the stops of line 4 have been put back into use today, Friday (May 15.5), near the intersection of Ruokosuonkatu.

The previously announced bus routes are still valid in Mansikkala.

Koulakatu dead end on Monday

Due to the construction of the underpass, Koulukatu will be cut off at the end of Tainionkoskentie on Monday 18.5 May. In practice, this means that Koulukatu will become a dead-end street during the works and there will be no connection to Tainionkoskentie.

The renovation works may also change movement in the yard of the vocational school, so that the location of the property's Koulukatu exit may have to be moved slightly.
