The traffic arrangements at the intersection of Koulukatu and Urheilutalo will change from Monday 17.2 February. starting due to the relocation of the water main. The change will especially affect those moving on Tainionkoskentie.

The area will have a reduced speed limit, the traffic lights will be taken out of use, and for a while only part of the lanes on Tainionkoskentie will be in use.

First, the water main transfer

On Tainionkoskentie, on the side of the sports hall, the transfer of the water main line has started, and on Monday the work will proceed over Kotipolu, after which the construction of the water main will continue in the direction of Tainionkoskentie.

The transfer of the water pipe is related to the construction of the underpass in the Koulukatu intersection area, which will start in the spring.

The waterworks will be ready by the beginning of April.

The construction of the roundabout will start at the end of March

Construction of the roundabout and other related works will probably start at the end of March.

─ Regarding the roundabout, the new drawings will be completed next Monday, when they will be published on the city's website. The first plans have been refined to improve traffic flow, city engineer Päivi Pekkanen says.

All changes must be completed on Tainionkoskentie, near the school center, by the end of July.

Changes to the traffic arrangements will always be announced as the work progresses during the spring and summer.

The city hopes that special caution is observed in traffic in the area during the relocation and construction works.
