The indoor air working group will discuss the situation in Linnala on Friday
Investigations commissioned by the city of Imatra have revealed damage to the window structures of Linnala school.
─ In summary, we can say that the water dampers on the new side of the window have poor tightness and on the old side, there is damage to the seam of the window frames. Microbial findings were observed in these, facilities management and security manager Sami Turunen says.
In addition, a recent investigation revealed that there is an air connection from one of the classrooms to the main electrical center in the basement. This way, air can get into the classroom from the underground basement.
The third clear problem was revealed in the rainwater downspouts, which release water towards the wall.
According to the preliminary assessment, all the damages found are repairable. Part of this work has already been done on the second floor of the new side.
─ The basement can also be pressurized and all ducts and ducts sealed, so air from the basement no longer gets into the living areas, says Turunen.
On Friday, the indoor air working group will meet, which will get the research report, repair plan and laboratory tests to examine.
The results of the symptom questionnaire are awaited
The response time for the symptom survey has ended. A separate survey was conducted for the staff at the same time. The reports of these surveys will be completed within 2-3 weeks.
─ The results of the studies are discussed in the indoor air working group. After that, the city can make final conclusions, Turunen states.
