IndoorAid symptom survey in October. Added medical resources for student check-ups.

The indoor air working group of the city of Imatra outlined on Tuesday, September 4.9. in its meeting, that the city will provide the Linnala school students with the IndoorAid symptom questionnaire, which was designed by Tuula Putus, doctor of medicine.

Originally, it was planned to use THL's survey, but THL will only outline the schedule for the introduction of its renewed survey at the end of September.

The aim is to conduct the symptom survey in week 42, before the autumn holidays. According to the recommendation, the most suitable time for the symptom survey is at the end of the fall semester.

Staff are given the Occupational Health Institute's symptom survey at the same time as students.

 

More structural studies on a fast schedule

Linnala school will also be investigated more quickly. For this purpose, a research plan was drawn up in cooperation with the health authority at the beginning of the week. More about the research plan in the fact box at the end of this bulletin.

The results of all research samples will be received in early October, after which the indoor air working group and the health authorities will discuss the issue.

Resources for medical examinations

Due to the symptom reports of students in Linnala, medical resources have been added to the student health care of the South Karelia social and health district (Eksote). Doctor appointments are booked through the school nurse. Medical examinations of students with symptoms will be done by the beginning of the fall vacation.

If the guardian suspects a child's indoor air-related symptoms, they should always contact the school health nurse. The health nurse will refer the student to a doctor's office if necessary.

 

The situation in performance monitoring

The city of Imatra constantly monitors the situation of Linnala school in the light of school health and occupational health, health authorities and the property's research results.

Additional studies at Linnala school

  • The studies are carried out in two phases.
  • First, in week 37, the extension part of the stone school, i.e. the so-called a new side. About 5 material samples from each class are taken from the new side.
  • The research focuses especially on the classes on the second floor, where more symptoms have occurred. In addition, reference samples are taken from the ground floor and condition measurements of the canteen are started.
  • In the second phase, at the end of September, the old part of the stone school and the wooden school will be examined.
  • In the old part of Kivikoulu, a leak air survey is carried out, which helps to find out the leak air routes. With the help of the results, it will be possible to allocate the points where material samples are taken to possible damage points.
  • The subfloor of the former woodcraft class is also examined by structural opening and an air sample of harmful compounds is taken from the indoor air.
  • Approximately 4 samples are taken from each class of Linnala's old stone school.
  • Material samples are taken from the wood school classroom.
