There will be a bread baking competition at Inkerinaukio on July 23.7.

The bread competition starts at 14 p.m. There are five teams participating in the competition, three of which are from Finland and two from Estonia. The teams competing in the competition have the audience taste the bread, after which the audience has the opportunity to tell their favorite by filling out an evaluation slip at the information desk. The team that won the public vote will be awarded 300 euros.

— Now is a good opportunity to taste fresh homemade bread for free, says the chairman of Karjalan Keittiömeisterate Ulla Liukkonen, who is one of the judges of the competition.

In addition, three judges taste the teams' breads and choose their favorite.

— Bread is evaluated for its appearance, texture and taste. In addition, it can be assessed whether locality has been thought about in the bread or whether something new has been tried, says Ulla Liukkonen.

Chefs also act as judges in the competition Taigo Lepik ja Tapio Laine. The jury's favorite will also receive a prize of 300 euros.

After the competition, a bread-making masterclass will begin at Inkerinaukio, where the public can see the making of bread up close. The bread is made by chefs Taigo Lepik and Ulla Liukkonen.

— In the Masterclass demonstration, each of us makes our own bread and prepares it on the spot on the grill. On Saturday, in my own bread, I want to bring out a provincial tradition. Homemade bread, domesticity and local food are close to my heart, describes Ulla Liukkonen.
