The planning of the renovation of the Koulukatu-Lappeentie street area starts
The city of Imatra is preparing plans for the renovation of the Koulukatu–Lappeentie street area during 2024.
In the spring, general plans for the street area will be drawn up, which include solutions for the implementation of lighting and green areas, as well as traffic. The traffic plan includes plans for walking, cycling and vehicle traffic, public transport stops and parking. At the end of the year, street plans and construction plans for streets, water supply, green areas and lighting will be drawn up.
- In the planning area, the street network, water supply network, street lighting network and district heating line are aged and in need of renovation. The current solutions in the area also do not support safe and sustainable movement in all respects, says the traffic engineer Aino Vuopio from the city of Imatra.
The renovation of the Koulukatu-Lappeentie street area will improve the area's networks and their reliability.

Residents are asked to give their views on the master plan
Residents are asked for observations, wishes and considerations regarding the safety, functionality and comfort of the area. - We want to involve the residents of the area in creating the general plan for the street area and hear their wishes and experiences, says Vuopio.
