Imatra's master plan proposal has been completed. The general plan covering the entire city area defines broad lines for the development of the city's land use and the land use of sub-regions. The general plan proposal is available for public viewing from 2 to 31.5.2024 May XNUMX.

- Now the residents have the last chance to take a stand on the master plan, reminds the planning manager Marja Pelo from the city of Imatra.

- The reminders are taken into account when the formula proposal is finalized, and at the same time it is assessed whether the reminders will possibly cause changes or refinements to the formula solution.

After being made available for viewing, the master plan proposal advances to the city government and the city council, which approves the master plan. In the future, the approved master plan will guide station planning.

The beach areas of Hosseinlahti and Lempuka will remain recreational areas

During the preparation of the master plan that started in 2016, there has been a lively discussion about the future of Lempeenliette and Hosseinlahti, i.e. Lempuka and Hossuka beach areas. Initially, the areas were designated for residential construction, after which the beaches were marked as construction reserve areas.

– In this general plan proposal The coastal areas of Hossuka and Lempuka are recreation areas, says Pelo.

During the preparation of the master plan, it has also been determined whether plots of land could be reserved for beach construction on the mainland beach east of Malonsaari.

- In the master plan proposal, it is possible to reserve lots for example on the east side of Malonsaari, the southwest side of Ukonniemi and on the edge of Lammassaarentie. Places suitable for beach construction will be studied in connection with more detailed planning, says Pelo.

Kaukopää school's protection mark will be removed

The urban development board discussed the master plan proposal in its meeting on 23.4.2024. The proposal was approved with the following clarifications: The protection marking of the Kaukopää school will be removed and the marking of the bypass that goes past the Tainionkoski power plant and the appropriate texts will be marked.

- Regarding the Kaukopää school, we will probably still receive a statement from the South Karelia Museum and the ELY Center of South-Eastern Finland about the building protection sites of the general plan, after which we will assess how to proceed with the protection markings, says Pelo.

At the Tainionkoski power plant, a mark will be added to the plan map to ensure that it is possible to make an overpass in the future.
