You will soon be able to take a position on the general plan proposal

When the proposal becomes public, any citizen of the city can take a stand on it. Feedback will be taken into account when finalizing the formula.

The general plan defines the city's land use at a general level. It defines, for example, which areas of the city are reserved for residential construction and which are recreation areas.

The formula has been prepared for a long time. The future of Saimaa's coastal areas in the areas of Hossuka and Lempukka has sparked discussion, among other things.

—At the moment, the beaches are so-called housing reserve areas in the proposal, which means that residential construction would be built on them at the earliest after the other areas reserved for housing have been built, planning manager Marja Pelo says.
