Eemil Stigman, security manager of the city of Imatra and chairman of EKTURVA's energy division, emphasizes that measures are needed by everyone to increase crisis resilience, as a prolonged power outage can disrupt other services in society.

South Karelia's safety and preparedness committee EKTURVA is a network of experts whose purpose is to coordinate and coordinate overall safety in the province. The committee includes South Karelia's key players from the authorities as well as the public and private sectors.

The public discussion in society about the electricity shortage and energy crisis has also developed EKTURVA.

As one part of EKTURVA, the energy division works, which is made up of provincial experts in electricity, water and heat distribution. Our goal is to bring together the most important experts from the province who work on energy issues every day. We have established good communication links with each other and we strive to share information that could help in preparing for an electricity shortage situation.

The expert network of Energiajaos shares information on current issues related to energy measures. In this way, we ensure that the experts of the company know each other's operating environment, field of tasks and responsibilities. By sharing information outside the region, it is ensured that the authorities, stakeholders and the residents of the province receive the necessary information about energy distribution and possible disruptions related to it.

In normal conditions, their disturbances and exceptional conditions, we cannot manage alone, but we need support from each other. Working at EKTURVA is agile, because we get the key factors in terms of the province's preparedness at the same table to discuss preparing for future threats. In this case, we will have shared good awareness, such as the functionality of the management measures that have already been prepared. Efforts are made to introduce good practices and eliminate bad ones if there are clear grounds for doing so.

Due to the threat of a possible future energy shortage, experts from the social and health district Eksote and the rescue service of South Karelia have also been attached to the operation of the EKTURVA energy division. It would be of primary importance to get us all to commit to energy saving talks, thereby lowering the risk of electricity shortages. So what is needed is a spirit of togetherness and a mentality of working together.  In order to increase social resilience to crisis, every resident needs to take measures, because a prolonged power outage can disrupt other services in society.

The importance of individual preparedness can never be emphasized often enough. If there is room in the warehouse for the needs of three days, the authorities and other key parties have the peace of mind to focus on managing other possible disruptions. So it would be good for everyone to go through their emergency storage using, for example, the Finnish Rescue Association 72 hours campaign checklists. There are many instructions, but now it would be required to put them into practice.
