Winter street maintenance and lighting were also popular topics.

The residents of the west side of Vuoksi were at the Mansikkala school center on Thursday, March 21.3.2024, XNUMX. About ten townspeople gathered on the steps of the school's Jättiläinen to hear and discuss current issues.

The development of Imatrankoski was on the minds of many present

Elävä project manager of the Imatrankoski project Tuija Valkeapää at the end of the evening gathered the main topics that arose in the group discussion together.
A new interesting idea, a nonstop kasi bus, emerged.

— On the Imatra map, there is a clear eight-shaped route between Kylpylä and Imatrankoski, for which a dedicated Kasilinja bus would be suitable for tourists and municipal residents to use. On the bus, with the help of modern technology, you could also hear and experience the city's history and general information through stories, Valkeapää told about the idea that came up in the group.

The second point was a community hall for Imatrankoski, a meeting place for Imatran residents of all ages and for communities and actors. Tuija Valkeapää said that something like that is also envisioned in the Imatrankoski development plan.

The activities of residents' and village associations would like to be made more visible, for example in the maintenance of playgrounds and outdoor fields.

— However, the playgrounds can be used by all city residents. The city could cooperate more with associations, Valkeapää brought up a topic that had arisen in the group.

Can we get a place to skate in Imatrankoski?
Chairman of the City Board Ilkka Nokelainen also participated in the discussion and suggested that the place of the former Lähti house could very well be a skating rink or field in the winter.

Infra became the most popular discussion group in residential bridges

Imatran Kiinteistö- ja aluepalvelut Oy or KIPA received roses and twigs from the residents.

The thanks came from the well-maintained light traffic lanes this winter. Feedback was given about the high banks of residential streets further north in intersections and at the junctions of properties.

- We plow the streets according to the plowing categories. Of course, the differences in the plowing footprint of the regions are partly also due to the equipment and the drivers, says the managing director Markku Puuska from Imatran Kiinteistö- ja aluepalvelut Oy.

The traffic behavior of young motorists, poor street lighting, and a pond of water blocking pedestrian traffic every spring at the north end of Linnankuja became a concern in Prisma's surroundings.

— We are also looking for a solution for that this year, because we have budgeted for the planning of that area for this year, promised the maintenance engineer Kaisa Pohjola.

In the final discussion, the transfer of public transport to the responsibility of the city of Lappeenranta came up.

The reform came into force at the beginning of the year. Uncertainty was aroused by the feedback.

— All feedback can be directed to the city of Lappeenranta. But yes, feedback can still be given to my team and we will pass it on to Lappeenranta as well, said the city engineer Erik Forstén.

There was a hope from the public that the free bus weeks when schools start will continue even after the reform.

In the group of children and young people, we discussed the well-being of young people and bullying.

Beach construction came up in the discussion in the General Plan group, and getting a camping area in Imatra also came up as a wish.
