On Imatra Day, the 75-year-old city is celebrated. The actual holiday was preceded by the Imatra week.

Imatra day on Saturday 19.8. starts with traditional morning coffees for decision-makers and municipal residents.

At midday, the city awards the Imatra medal and distributes the award for promoting a positive Imatra image on the stage in Koskenparras.

The program on stage continues throughout the day.

— For example, at 14 p.m., a group of musicians from Imatra performs the song We are the World. Choirs from music classes and the teaching orchestra of Virta school also participate in the performance. The rehearsals and the group are led by Reetta Taavila from the music academy. It's definitely worth coming to listen, Haaparanta says.

There is a varied program for children during the day in Koskipuisto. Companies present themselves in Nepparinaukio and associations in Koskenparras walking street.

The Imatra day culminates to the Whitewater rock symphonyand to the rapids show. Osmo's Cosmos, reinforced with Imatra's Immet and Vuoksi's Mieslaulajat choirs, will perform at the rapids dam in a laser and pyrotechnics-enhanced rapids show at 9.30 p.m.

Exhibitions, concerts and open doors during the festive week

Imatra day is based on Imatra week.
