Not paid! Not paid! -play's premiere will be celebrated in Imatra on Saturday
Not paid! Not paid! premieres at Teatteri Imatra on Saturday 23.10 October. 16 o'clock.
The play is a social satire about the lives of ordinary people, where everyday life turns into a tragicomedy. The work deals with current issues such as the rising cost of living, the everyday life of temporary workers, the position of women and the changes brought about by globalization.
The story starts when Maire's "cup turns upside down". The price of food has skyrocketed, and a number of women are finding it necessary.
The women start a pay strike, and Maire joins the strikers. The matter slips to the side of illegality and the farce is complete.
Fo's humor springs from everyday insights
The play was written by the Nobel Prize-winning author Dario Fo. Fo was an Italian playwright, theater director and actor born in 1926.
He was a well-known social influencer through his art. He fought against organized crime, bribery and corruption and criticized the double standards of the Catholic Church.
However, he always expressed criticism through comedy.

The first performance of the play was seen in 1974 in Milan's Palazzina Liberty. The play, which can be seen at Imatra, has been translated and adapted into Finnish Pentti Järvinen.
