Corona and immigrants have caused a need for space.

Imatra's welfare board discussed today, Tuesday, the need for additional space at the Mansikkala school center.

The acute need for space is due to the fact that, due to the corona virus, the open learning spaces of the tree school cannot be used as common spaces for groups in the way they were originally planned to be used. The corona guidelines emphasize that class groups should be considered their own groups.
In addition, during the spring and summer, about a class and a half of new students have moved to the area of the Mansikkala school center. The movers include both Imatra residents and people from outside the area.

The Mansikkala school center has been sized taking into account the declining student numbers.

As one option, it has been discussed whether the module waiting to be moved on the edge of the Linnala field should be leased back to the school for, for example, a year. Other options are also being explored for unusual times.

The board is waiting for more detailed information about the different options and the evaluation of their effects on children for its next extraordinary meeting, i.e. 4.11. by.
