Small entrepreneurs and associations have the opportunity to rent stalls.

The city of Imatra is experimenting with pop-up stalls in Imatrankoski. Stalls are one small way to create a new kind of life in the city center. The idea started in the summer from an idea survey aimed at the municipal residents and from the wishes raised by the entrepreneurs of Imatrankoski.

Four stalls have been ordered and they will be placed on the pedestrian street for the winter season. For the summer, the stalls will be moved to the edge of Inkerinaukio. The placement of the stalls has taken into account the fact that they must not hinder the operations of existing companies.

The stalls will appear on the street no later than 16.12.

─ The idea is that small entrepreneurs and various associations can rent stalls to sell their own products on a very low threshold principle. They will be in use throughout the year, deputy mayor Kaisa Heino says.

The purchase price of the stalls is 2000 euros per piece. The wooden parts should arrive in Imatra in November, after which Saimaa Electricity assembles and paints them to match the color world of Valtionhotelli and Inkerianaukio. The stalls have electricity.

─ The stalls are owned by the city, but they are managed by Imatra's Real Estate and Area Service (Kipa). The Imitsi association works as an operator, which is responsible for booth reservations and rental agreements, city gardener Erika Luhtanen clarify the division of labor.

The most flexible policies and price classifications are created for renting stalls, so that even small operators have the opportunity to take advantage of them. The rent is tied to the pricing of market and sales places. Sales stalls can already be booked from Imts (040 550 33 27, infoatimitsi.fi).

─ It would be great if we could get locals to present and sell their products right before Christmas. It would bring a whole new life to the pedestrian street during Christmas, Executive Director of Imits Mervi Leinonen says.
