A budget has been set aside in the city's budget for twin city visits

The city of Imatra has set aside an amount in the 2019 budget to be distributed as grants for twin city and neighborhood visits, mainly to Imatra's youth, sports, and art groups. Similarly, grants can be awarded to registered associations from Imatra, whose guests are youth or other groups from the twin cities.   
 
Imatra's sister cities are Ludvika (Sweden), Saltzgitter (Germany), Zvolen (Slovakia), Szigetvar (Hungary), Narva-Jõesuu (Estonia), Tihvina (Russia) and Jiaxing (China).

The purpose of the allocation is to encourage city residents to keep in touch with twin cities. Support is granted in advance on the basis of the requested cost estimate and the support covers part of the costs.
