The cities of Imatra and Lappeenranta have opened a survey on their websites, asking residents and other commuters for opinions and ideas on how to make travel in the city center areas smoother.

How would you make moving more smoothly? survey is open until November 13 at addresses www.imatra.fi ja www.lappeenranta.fi

The form of the survey is new compared to typical online surveys: while the respondent chooses the best of the development ideas, he can also present his own ideas. Prizes will be drawn among the participants and the development of the presentations will continue with those who presented the best ideas. You can access the survey from this link.

Imatra and Lappeenranta carry out the survey in cooperation with Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) and Saimaa University of Applied Sciences. The educational institutions are researching the creation of the South Karelian experiment ecosystem with the cities, where this campaign is the first public and open experiment.

Pasi Leimi, director of Lappeenranta's technical department, emphasizes that the opinions obtained from the survey will be used to support traffic planning.

- In Lappeenranta, traffic in the city center has been discussed a lot recently due to numerous ongoing construction projects. The ideas presented by residents are applied in the planning and implementation of traffic arrangements. Hopefully, we will get people excited about this new and convenient way of presenting and evaluating movement. I hope that both pedestrians, cyclists and motorists would give their ideas and share their opinions, Leimi encourages.

Kari Perälä, information director of the city of Imatra, trusts the judgment of citizens as mobility experts.

- If only people find the network development arenas, good ideas will surely come. Based on my own experience, the survey actually hooks the user. In traffic, we are on the brink of big challenges and opportunities at the same time. Then you should turn over all the stones. There is no idea so wild that it is not worth bringing up.
