The city of Imatra is investigating the possibility of supporting the well-being of the municipalities with the help of so-called eRaha.

The idea of eRaha is that a citizen of the city can do something of general benefit and receive eRaha for their services, which can be used to pay for their own services covered by the city's eRaha, for example in a swimming pool, sports hall or ice rink.

Chief Information Officer Kari Perälä says that eRaha could work within the community to produce and buy various small services.

- At best, eRaha could motivate to help and increase caring.

According to Perälä, if successful, eRaha can create a healthy competition between city districts for where the most eRaha has been collected.

- In this way, communities create their own environment, he says.

The use of ERaha is a novelty, the introduction of which still requires clarification from many angles.

-  The market must not be messed with here, states Perälä emphatically.
