In the Karelian gastronomy and fishing history event, influences are sought from the atmosphere of Finnish films of the 1950s and 1960s with their accordion music. Starring are Suur-Saimaa's Old Ships and a jubilee themed dinner prepared in collaboration with the entrepreneurs of Karelian Kitchen Masters and Restaurant Nuota.

- The Old Ships from the Saimaa region are open to the public at the event, so you can get to know them. And Karelian Chefs bring cooking up close when they prepare the tourism jubilee themed dinner served in Nuota as a work show for the public, the responsible producer of the event Juha-Pekka Natunen says.

- The event is also a great opportunity to get to know all the other services of the port, the beach and the Lammassaari area, Natunen continues and warmly welcomes the public to the event.

The main event of the tourism 250 years anniversary is July 23.7.

The main event of the jubilee year is currently underway To the bread competition registration. Two cash prizes are awarded to the winners of the competition, one of which is voted by the public and the other is chosen by the jury. The prize amounts are 300 euros per series. The main event open to the public is at Inkerinaukio. A seminar is also organized during the day and the evening culminates in a gala dinner held at Valtionhotelli 

The bread competition is organized in cooperation with Estonians.

- Teams participate in the bread competition from Finland and Estonia, so it is a Master Class demonstration of bread making from both countries, Natunen says.

In autumn, there will be a third anniversary event along the Vuoksi River. Its exact date and program will be announced on the city's website shortly.

The events are carried out as part of the MOKRA funds of the South Karelia Association "Celebrating 250 years of tourism” project. The city of Imatra, in cooperation with the South Karelia recreation area foundation and Kulttuuritila Nuijamiehe, will implement three historical events during 2022. The project financially supports the events.
