The launch was delayed due to a component failure.

The project to improve Mellonlahti's water quality is almost done. The new pumping station has been in place for quite some time, but its start-up is still waiting for the last components so that the electricity can be installed.

In the contract started at the end of last summer, two pipes have been sunk in Mellonlahti. In addition, one discharge pipe has been installed between Vuoksi and Mellonlahti. In the future, the purpose is to pump 200 liters of Vuoksi water to Mellonlahti throughout the year.

Originally, the pumping was supposed to start already in November.

─ Getting parts has been particularly difficult, developer Henry Tapiola Mitra is upset.

If the parts are received soon, the pumping station will start operating during the spring. The last landscaping works will be done in the summer.

Patotie does not have winter maintenance, but you can go outside there at your own risk.

In the future, Mellonlahti's ice will be weak from the pumping point, which outdoor enthusiasts should take into account.

Joint project

Improving Mellonlahti's water quality has been planned for a long time.

Mitra has managed the coordination of the project. The contract has been divided into smaller parts and, in addition to Imatra Kiinteistö- ja aluepalvelu (Kipa), the contractors have been several local companies that have been tendered.

The total budget of the project is around 400 euros.

About half of it is paid for by the ELY center and half by the city of Imatra.
