Pontoon bridges would be best suited to the needs of recreational use in Malonsaari, Mikonsaari and Haapasaari, according to the consultant report.

In the survey of bridges between Saimaa's islands, bridge locations and bridge models suitable for recreational purposes were examined.

The report ended up recommending bridges from the northern tip of Malonsaari via the island called Malonkenkä to Mikonsaari. This solution would calm the yards of the cottagers located on the eastern shore of Mikonsaari.

The report made by VSU Maisema-arkitehdit Oy recommends Pontoon piers, because a more robust alternative, a suspension bridge, is clearly more expensive and would also change the landscape more strongly. In terms of Kapulalosses, crossings of straits between islands over a hundred meters long are long and unsafe.

Based on the report, the preliminary prices of pontoon bridges would range from 140 to 000 euros per bridge.

City gardener Erika Luhtanen according to the report gives concrete alternatives to the discussion, when until now we have talked more on the basis of wishes.

- It's good that we have received answers to the discussion about the conditions under which the construction of bridges is possible. Some basic information on the subject has been obtained. Now we can think about how to move forward, when it's already a little bit longer, he states.

A bridge clearance was done In the Ukonniemi multi-use route project

The report will be presented to Imatra's urban development board on Tuesday 8.11 November.
