Winter bus schedules come into effect when schools start
The bus winter timetables will come into effect next week, Thursday 13.8 August. when schools start. The new schedules can already be found electronically from the public transport page.
Timetables will be distributed to homes tomorrow, Thursday 6.8 August. A paper schedule is also available at the city hall's customer service desk and on buses after the new schedule comes into force.
As in previous years, you can travel on buses for free from 13 to 23.8.2020 August XNUMX.
A few changes have been made to the schedules compared to last winter.
New trade shifts for line 3
For the morning of Line 3, so-called trade shifts have been made in both directions. These shifts have been made based on customer wishes, because the route change made for the summer due to the roundabout construction site was a good thing for many. In the future, shopping routes will run along the current summer route, i.e. Tietäjänkatu-Keskuskatu, and other routes will return to the former route Koulukatu (Mansikkala school center)-Tainionkoskentie (Swimming pool). Trade shifts can be found separately marked in the schedules.
In the future, Line 5 will travel through the Mansikkala school center and the timetables of the line take into account the times of going to school and returning home.
The further connection improvements made to the summer schedule also remain in the winter schedule. No changes have been made to them.
As a novelty, a shopping taxi
The shopping bus will be removed and replaced by a shopping taxi service as a new experiment. The call-based commercial taxi service will be tested during the next winter schedule.
- In the store taxi experiment, the idea has been to offer customers a better service, including door-to-door transport and assistance with shopping. The price in the new service is slightly higher than in traditional public transport, but it allows you to go directly from your doorstep to the store, says the traffic planner Kaisa Pohjola.
- You can order a store taxi to the stores that are included in the service, and you can find these included stores in the schedule. We monitor the use and functionality of the service, and make changes to the service if necessary. It is therefore a trial service, the functionality of which we will examine during the operation, explains Pohjola.
The shopping taxi service is offered by the city of Imatra in cooperation with the shops in the area and Imatra Taksi. The participation of shops enables a cheaper price than a normal taxi.

The price of a shopping taxi for customers is 5 euros one way and 10 euros round trip.
Kauppatak is an experiment supported by shops to replace the shopping bus. Participating in the experiment are Prisma Imatra, S-Market Vuoksenniska, S-Market Imatrankoski, ABC Imatra, S-Market Rajapatsas, K-Supermarket Vuoksenniska and K-Supermarket Imatrankoski.
