Guys get a ride on Saturday 6.7. In the center of Imatra

The Äijänkäräräsi World Championships are making a comeback after a break of almost ten years. On Saturday, July 6.7.2019, XNUMX, dudes will get a ride in the Äijänkärräysen street race in the downtown area of Imatrankoski.

There are two competition series: the general series of street competitions (18-xx–year-olds) and the best outfit / funniest couple / best attitude series. The race pair consists of a female carter and a male carter. Registration for the race is already open. More information with the competition rules as well as registration instructions can be found on the page www.creativekaiku.fi. Participation in the competition is free this year. The organizers promise the participants plenty of attention and honor alongside a fun sports performance.

The Äijänkärräyä has been organized before, the last time the äijänkärräy was held in Ruokolahti in 2010. The idea of reviving the event was born in March, the initiator was an event expert Sari Saarinen from the city of Imatra. The planning and construction of the event have taken place at a fast pace in the spirit of a brainstorming session. Event producer CreativeKaiku Ky (formerly Kaiku), Imitsi ry and the city of Imatra have been involved in the arrangements. The orienteering club SK Vuoksi also works as a partner in the competition arrangements, as in previous competition years.

- There is a lot of need for an organizing team for the competition talks and it is currently being put together. It was really great that we got SK Vuoks involved in the competition arrangements again. With them, things go like clockwork and we have great experiences from this collaboration from the wheelbarrow competitions years ago, they said Vibrance ja Jari Niiranen Creative Echo.

Presenting the idea to other partners immediately aroused interest and a desire to participate in supporting one of the funnest events in Finland. Etelä- Karjalan Osuuspankki is one of the main sponsors of the event.

- One of the basic tasks of OP South Karelia is to promote the vitality of our province. We feel that the Äijänkärräys competition event increases the attractiveness of the city of Imatra and creates a positive atmosphere in the center of Imatra. For this reason, we are happy to support the organization of the event, he says Petri Krohns OP from South Karelia.

After the race, one of Finland's most significant tourist attractions, the Imatra waterfall, will erupt at 18 p.m. After that, there will be an interesting free concert on the Koskenpartaa stage. The performer will be announced later.

- The event brings the desired buzz to the central area of Imatra in July. You can't miss this one - right? The competition and the performer complement each other nicely, says Sari Saarinen.
