The issue will be discussed next time in the city's executive committee on Monday

On Friday, the indoor air working group of the city of Imatra familiarized itself with the latest structural studies of Linnala school. Microbial findings have been revealed in them, for example on the window walls. The problems are extensive, and in addition, microbial damage has been found in the basement. In the opinion of the health authorities, school work is not possible during the corrective measures.

- The problems found in the research results and the views of different experts led the indoor air working group to a unanimous proposal to move to evacuation rooms, said facility management and safety manager Sami Turunen.

In the indoor air working group, Olli Inkinen from Raklamit Oy also presented the laboratory results of the study. They show that it is not safe to continue school work at the same time as remedial measures.

At its meeting, the indoor air working group decided to propose to the city's management team that evacuation rooms should be found for the entire Linnala school.

During the medical examination, the number of those with symptoms has been determined to be approximately 60. There are currently 303 students at Linnala school.

The results of the symptom questionnaires should be ready within a couple of weeks, but there is no longer any waiting for their answers, because the investigations of the property have found a clear reason for the symptoms. Correcting the problems comprehensively would require emptying the entire school in any case.

The situation at Linnala school and the presentation of the indoor air working group will be discussed immediately on Monday in the city's management group. The decision to move to emergency rooms is made by the mayor. If premises need to be rented, the decision is made by the city government. The welfare board decides on moving to existing premises.

The indoor air working group is an institutional body made up of experts that collects and forwards issues. It doesn't make decisions.
