Imatra is a paradise for those who move in nature and on water. Saimaa, Vuoksi and Immalanjärvi offer a wonderful setting for fishing, boating and swimming. The water bodies are bordered by a wonderful network of nature trails and multi-use routes. Imatra is part of the Saimaa geopark, which has achieved UNESCO status.

Forests owned by the city are managed taking into account the various goals related to the forests, the wishes of residents and other stakeholders, and the regulations set by the zoning. The goal is to keep the city's forests vibrant and take care of their proper regeneration, so that it is possible to enjoy the benefits offered by the forests in the future as well.
