Imatran Lämpö Oy is responsible for district heating and natural gas operations by planning, building and maintaining district heating production facilities and heating networks as well as natural gas distribution networks.
Since the beginning of 2016, Imatran Lämpö Oy has been producing district heat with domestic and local wood chips and forest industry by-products. Imatra's district heating network has also been renewed, so that the benefits of the new bioheat centers can be distributed optimally.
The implemented bio-heating center and transmission line investment fully supports the energy and environmental policy strategy and goals of the EU and Finland. Greenhouse gas emissions decreased by approximately 25 to 000 tons per year. Local heat based on bioenergy and the utilization of forest industry by-products are part of the circular economy and the environmental strategy of the city of Imatra. The implemented project is significant both economically and environmentally.
As a result of the transition to biofuels, district heating consumer prices fell by almost 25%. An affordable price together with a high-quality heating service are factors that promote the vitality of the city.
Natural gas is suitable for industrial process, transport and household use. It is competitive in heating properties located far from the district heating network. In addition to pipe gas, Imatran Lämpö Oy's natural gas distribution network also enables the utilization of biogas and LNG.
The operating idea is to secure reliable and competitive heating services for the people of Imatra in all conditions with the help of natural gas and district heating in their operating areas.
