Issues related to security are constantly being developed in the municipalities. In addition to Imatra, Ruokolahti, Rautjärvi and Parikkala are also involved in the project.

The cyber security of the water supply is improved by a joint project of the four municipalities.

The project maps the current state of water supply cyber security and finds out how issues related to security can be developed in the future.

— In municipalities, attention is constantly paid to cyber security and security issues in general. In this project, we gather information and based on that, we see which things we should invest in in the future. Things to develop can be, for example, personnel training, project manager, information management specialist Hanna Ruokoniemi The city of Imatra tells.

During the project, the operational reliability of network connections in the event of a disturbance will be examined. A big part is also the development of cooperation between municipalities.

— Four municipalities are involved in the project. The goal is to create a common operating model for municipalities to ensure cyber security and to increase cooperation in other ways. The work would have been done in the municipalities in any case, but with the help of the project we will be able to cooperate more widely, Ruokoniemi states.

The ELY center of Etelä-Savo finances the project "Strengthening the cyber security of the water supply facilities of the Imatra region" with 52 euros. The project started in March 000 and will end in June 2024.
