The first is the renovation of Niskalammi's lighting, which will start next week.

Part of the street lighting investments will be allocated to improving the lighting of light traffic routes in accordance with the goals of the Walking and Cycling Program.

— For example, the lighting of the Esterinkatu light traffic lane is planned for 2023, so construction will start this year. The date will be further specified and will be announced later, maintenance engineer Kaisa Pohjola mentions.

The replacement of the lamps at the Niskalammi fairground will start on Monday, March 25.3.2024, XNUMX

The lamp replacement applies to Niskalammenkatu, Niskakoskenkatu, Kuppilantie, Melulantie, Taimikuja and Melukylänraitti. The work lasts until the end of April.

— The work is done with a lift truck, which does not completely close the streets, but does cause some inconvenience to traffic, says Pohjola.

In addition, the construction of Niskalammi's new lighting network will be completed in Tavinkuja, Sieponkuja, Korpinkuja, Huuhkajankuja and Kaivotie.

The demolition of the old poles will be carried out in the area by the end of May.

The renovation of the lighting of the Vuoksi link is divided into four parts

Currently, planning is underway for the first route to be renovated. This renovation planning concerns the distance between Uimahalli and Ratasilta. Attached to this announcement is the distribution of the renovation of the Vuoksi loop, presented in a map image.

— Improving the lighting of the Vuoks track has been desired for a long time, and last year there was even a desire to improve the lighting near the town hall thanks to a municipal initiative, Pohjola says.
— The process of selecting the pole light to be used in this object is in progress. The purpose is to use a uniform model at least on the light traffic corridor west of Vuoksi, he continues.

In the lighting design of the Vuoksen track and the Vuoksenranta playground, special consideration is given to interference light and the effect of artificial lighting on living organisms. In addition, the brightness of the lighting can be adjusted according to the conditions.

During the summer, the planning of the overall lighting needs of the city center also starts.

— In this work, we already have a lot of material available thanks to the Imatrankoski development project, he mentions.

The lighting of the Blue Bridge, which has been talked about for a long time, is being updated

With the renovation of the blue effect lighting of the Siitola overpass, we will switch from discharge lamps to LED technology. The planning is done together with the ELY center, because the site is located above the traffic area managed by them.

— The color tone and brightness of the light must be taken into account in the design, the effect lighting must not cause glare for motorists, says Pohjola.

The need for lighting playgrounds has been mapped

City gardener Erika Luhtanen is satisfied that the issue of lighting playgrounds can be promoted. There has been a lot of feedback about the insufficient lighting.

— Imatra has 36 playgrounds and eleven of them have no lighting at all, and some of the places have inadequate lighting. This year, lighting plans will be made for these locations, Luhtanen says.
