The festive year culminates on New Year's Eve

Event producer Mari Haaparanta, what did you remember most about the anniversary?

Overall, the year has been very successful. I especially remembered Imatra day, the We are the world song I produced there, as well as the rapids show that crowned the day and Osmo's Cosmos Whitewater Symphony.

I wanted Imatra Day to be festive, and I got it.

One of the highlights of this year was definitely Valo ja taiteen hemää, also organized in honor of the anniversary, and there especially the work of dancer Kasperi Kolehmainen. And in general, the feedback that the townspeople have received from the events in abundance. I'm also happy with how well the people of Imatra started the events. Thanks for the successful events belong to all of us.

However, the year is not over yet. What will happen during the rest of the year?

The party buzz is still known.

Independence Day celebrations start on December 5.12. at the party of sixth-graders in the winter garden of the town hall. On Independence Day, a traditional party open to all and free of charge is organized in Kulttuuritalo Virra. The program there includes, among other things, music and dance.

The festive year ends with the New Year's Eve festivities at Imatrankoski. On the eve, Koskenpartaa has an extraordinary amount of programs in honor of the jubilee decision. The evening starts with Dj Marco's slipper dances and ends with the dances of the band "Oman kylän miehet". In between, there is a completely new kind of rapids show, where Dancing Waters can be seen as an addition to the show. It is a show consisting of fountains, lights and fireworks and other pyrotechnics on top of the dam. The White Water Symphony is heard in the background of all the beauty. In addition, Väärätalo will be illuminated during Christmas and New Year.

The festive year ends, but the events continue. What's in store for next year?

Next year, in a certain way, we will return to normal everyday life with events. Of course, the city organizes the Imatra day. Next year will also celebrate the anniversaries of Black and White Theater Association and Imatra City Center Association Imits.
