It is recommended that the person driving to the drop-off site does not get out of their car. Those shopping inside the school center can park in the parking lots on Ruokosuonkatu and Karjaportinkatu.

Traffic around the Mansikkala school center is congested from time to time, especially in the mornings and afternoons.

Ambiguity and congestion have arisen especially with the drop-off sites along Tainionkoskentie.

Drop-off places are intended for bringing schoolchildren to school and picking them up. They are not parking spaces, but the spaces are intended for short-term stopping.

It is recommended that the motorist who stops at the drop-off site does not get out of their car, for example to take or pick up their child.

—The purpose is for the cars to move forward in the queue as there is room in front, so that a new car can always drive to the back of the queue. This is not possible if there are cars in between with no driver present, city engineer Päivi Ala-Vannesluoma guide.

There are parking spaces on Ruokosuonkatu and Karjaportikatu

Guardians bringing children to early childhood education and preschool and other people doing business inside the school center can park along Ruokosuonkatu and Karjaportinkatu.

—You can park in these street-side spots for a maximum of half an hour, says Ala-Vannesluoma.

There are also parking spaces for guardians and other people doing business in the building at the corner of Ruokosuonkatu and Karjaportinkatu.

Separate parking areas for staff and high school students

The staff parking area is next to Ruokosuonkatu.

In addition, there are staff parking spaces in the so-called Krimi parking area on the other side of Koulukatu.

—There are two rows reserved for the staff of the Mansikkala school center, and a permit is required for parking. The rest of Krimi's parking area is used by Ammattiopisto Sampo, the principal of Imatra's joint high school Mika Strömberg says.

High school students can park in the parking lot of the swimming hall, preferably in the area on the side of the bowling alley.

The parking area in front of the school center's front doors, on the other hand, is reserved for Eksote's staff and customers. The electric charging points there can also be used by school center staff.

The snow will be hauled away this week

In recent weeks, traffic has been hampered by the heavy amount of snow, which has narrowed the streets and obscured visibility.

—Snow will be cleared from around the school center during this week, work manager Kimmo Kauhanen Imatra's real estate and regional service Kipa says.

The staff parking spaces along Karjaporti and Ruokosuonkatu are reserved for the staff of the nursing home also in the evenings and on weekends. In other parking areas, parking restrictions are valid on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 16 p.m.

It is now worth paying special attention to parking, because from the beginning of February, we will put all our efforts into monitoring. Started in the city after a year's break vs. a parking inspector. Supervision is carried out, for example, around school centers.
