The work of the study care groups has started
The work of Imatra's study care groups has started.
The city-wide study support group and the school centers' own groups met for the first time in September.
— The work has started well. Next, the work of smaller study care groups will be started in each school center. According to the plan, the school centers will have their own group for pre-primary and primary education as well as for lower and upper grades, a development coordinator Raisa Pöntinen says.
Student maintenance work is done at Imatra on four levels. In the student care groups of the city and school centers, children and young people's issues are dealt with on a general level. In smaller groups, on the other hand, more concrete actions are planned to promote well-being.
Matters related to individual children or young people are not discussed in these groups.
The new plan was introduced in August
The goal of student welfare groups is to prevent problems and improve the well-being of children and young people in schools. The work is multi-professional: there are study care professionals, school representatives, pupils and students as well as guardian representatives.
The background of the activity is not only observations made in the everyday life of schools and issues that arise in daily activities, but also researched information. The work utilizes, among other things, the results of the national school health survey.
—Imatra's schools also have a well-being survey in progress, to which all schoolchildren answer. The results will be used in due course to help with student maintenance work, says Pöntinen.
The study maintenance plan for pre-school and schools was renewed last spring. The new plan was introduced at the beginning of August.
The plan unified the operating methods of the school centers and made visible the work that had already been done in preschool and schools.
The plan can be found on the website at this link and at Wilma.
