Column: Let's hold on to the light

Autumn has the charm of novelty. Many people start their studies, maybe even a new hobby. This resident's supplement has information on both topics and tips on what you can do in Imatra.

The city of Imatra is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary. We have made this celebration together with both associations and companies. A big thank you to everyone who has worked hard or will continue to do so this year for our joint anniversary. There have been many festive events.

There will also be new openings on the event side. Flowers of Life, an art group specializing in light art, brings the gems of light and art from October 18 to 22.10. to the center.

In the fall, the decision-makers are also on the verge of something new, because always in August and November, the preparation for the next year is at its most intense when turning the budget. The budget must be guided by the valid city strategy, i.e. implement its goals.

The challenges of the budget work include the changed funding base due to the reform of the welfare area, growing investment pressures, rising costs, aging of the population and indebtedness of the public sector.

But Imatra is moving forward one step at a time. Last summer's wonderful events, good feedback from the Milk train campaign. spatial art projects, the development of companies' placement activities and an enthusiastic attitude make our spending easier. Investments in vitality work have been increased significantly. There have been many proposals for the Imatrankoski development competition, so we will hear more about it during the fall.

Although the light from nature decreases with autumn, we let Imatra shine. Let's share our good news together.
