Principles of sustainable development in organizing events

CBC Visit Vuoksi - project piloting the principles of sustainable development in organizing events. The principles will be piloted during two years in two events in Finland and two events in Russia.

The goal is that, after the pilot, the principles of organizing a sustainable event will be implemented in events along the Vuoksi River on both sides of the border.

Principles to be tested in 2022

• transport
• food and drink
• employee training
• communication
  • the communication must tell about the principles of sustainable development of the event
• waste disposal
  • waste management point, which tells how the event's waste is sorted and recycled.
  • garbage recycling, separate containers or collection boxes for different types of waste
  • transportation of waste to the final processing point

Principles to be tested in 2023

• acquisitions
• noise and light
• waste disposal
  • 2-3 information shocks about waste recycling in the program of the event 
• reducing food waste

Based on the previous year's testing, the principles of sustainable development are in use for transport, food and drink, employee training and waste management.
