Investigations are carried out in nine areas.

The city is holding flying squirrel surveys in different parts of the city starting this week. The work will continue until the middle of May.

Flying squirrel surveys are carried out in areas where there is a need to update previously prepared and partly outdated surveys.

The survey areas also include areas with upcoming site plan projects, for example the Ukonniemi holiday apartment area, the Ritikankoski residential area and the Lempukka-Hosseinlahti area, planning architect Kaija Maunula says.

There is also a need to update the flying squirrel surveys in the area of Rajapatsaa in the area of the residential blocks presented in the already approved site plan and in their forested nearby areas.

AFRY Finland Oy performs survey work in the field.
