Koski's school center needs additional space as early as next fall.

The tender for the modular building of Koski School Center will start next Monday. Requests for tenders are published on the hilma.fi website.

The acquisition is about space elements that will serve in school use for several years. They are part of a flexible space solution to prepare for a possible decrease in the number of students in the future.

Originally, the introduction of the module classes was supposed to be done at the same time two years from now, when the school center's new building is completed.

─ The modular school will now be acquired earlier, because Linnala's language classes will move to Koske already next fall, project manager Mari Routti justifies the changed schedule.

It has not yet been decided which classes will study in the modules in the fall.

The same tender also includes facilities that will serve the school in Eastern Finland. However, these module facilities will not be delivered until 2021.

The foundations for the modules must be ready already in June so that the installation can be completed in July. The premises are furnished in July-August. The facilities must be ready by August 8, when school work in Imatra starts after the summer.

The module facilities will be placed at the end of the current school field in the school yard, between Sulkukuja and Vuoksentie.

─ The planning has taken into account how students' routes and breaks can be organized safely during the new construction.

Students walk through the high school yard to the module. The pick-up point for all school children is at the S-bend of Vuoksentie.

Demolition work to start in the spring

Site traffic is directed from the north end of the site via Sulkukuja. The light traffic lane is separated from construction site traffic at Sulkukuja.

─ Demolition work on the decommissioned school property will start according to the preliminary schedule in May-June. The actual dismantling of the machine will probably start after the Imatran races after the middle of June, developer Ari Lattu from Mitra tells.

The demolition work will be tendered in March.
