Based on the surface samples taken in the building, stone dust was detected.

The air quality differs perceptibly in different classrooms.

1/2017 regarding the property, there were contacts from several parties due to the deteriorated indoor air in the property.

Since September 1.9.2016, 5, a total of XNUMX middle school employees have been in contact with occupational health care due to symptoms related to indoor air. Regarding the students, there have been no contacts with the school nurse.

Background spring 2017

Large differences in ventilation balance were observed between the classes. In connection with the measurements, ventilation balancing was carried out.

Based on the research results obtained in the spring of 2017, the pollutants seemed to enter the indoor spaces through ventilation. Microbes from the outdoor air were found in the samples. The air filters were changed to more efficient ones.

No findings were observed in surface brush samples or fiber samples. In the dust samples, on the other hand, a lot of outdoor dust was found. In the material samples, there are no indications of indoor air damage due to the structures.

Different implementation methods have been observed in floor structures. There have been indications of damage in class 306 floor structure openings.

The cleaning of the property was intensified from 2/2017. The property is cleaned every day.

Ventilation was improved with separate space-specific devices.

One student has been contacted by the school health nurse.

The latest research

In the spring of 2017, a health and safety inspection visit organized by the South Karelia social and health district Eksote was carried out at the school in cooperation with various actors.

In May 2017, condition measurements were performed.

Comprehensive health survey of structures 6-7/2017: Sisäilmatalo Kärki Oy.

Preliminary information on research results received at the beginning of September. The results showed findings of moisture and microbial damage from different parts of the property. There are leaks in the structures, as a result of which impure air can flow into the interior spaces.

Recommendation of the indoor air working group

Based on the preliminary results, extensive corrective measures are required so that the property can be used for years to come.

The indoor air working group has discussed the matter in its meeting on 4.9.

In accordance with the procedure instructions for indoor air problems of the city of Imatra, the indoor air working group has recommended that the school activities be moved to the shelter from the beginning of the next academic year.

According to the experts, Sisäilmatalo Kärki Oy, it is possible to safely continue working in the school until the end of the day with the help of corrective measures proposed by the experts.

Immediate corrective measures to be taken at school

Pressurization of ventilation.

Sealing measures per space.

Radical Cleaning measures -> reducing the load of movables.

Air purifiers for classes.

We closely monitor the experiences of the staff and children.

How is the dodge implemented?

The decision on the dodge target has not been made yet.

In accordance with the operational model outlined at Imatra, the possibility of placing students in the current facilities used by the welfare and education services has first been investigated. Considering the number of students in the Koski school building and the condition of the other properties, this seems unlikely.

The city government will discuss the matter at its meeting on 11.9.

Can any parts of the school building be used during the dodge? How is the meal arranged? What about the hall and individual subject classes?

At this stage, there is still no precise information about the implementation of the dodge. The first consideration of the implementation of the diversion will be at the city council meeting on September 11.9.

How is the Eastern Finland school evasion organized?

The school of Eastern Finland is a tenant of the city of Imatra in the premises of the Koske school.

The city also organizes safe and healthy evacuation facilities for schools in Eastern Finland.

Eastern Finland School and Koske School Center are important partners, and workarounds aim to support the continuation and strengthening of cooperation.
