In the Imatra arena and the discussion event, current EU themes will be discussed

To be implemented for the fifth time Imatra arena this year, the focus is on EU topics. The European Parliament elections to be held in June inspired the organizers to realize the Imatra arena this time in the form of an EU election panel.

- EU affairs are now on the surface and interest people. It is interesting to hear what the candidates think about the situation in eastern Finland and how the European Union could influence it, says the participation coordinator Heikki Laine from the city of Imatra.

Six European election candidates participate in the EU election panel: Kati Häkkinen (Center), Ville Kaunisto (Coalition), Suna Kymäläinen (SDP), Arto Luukkanen (Basic Finns), Joona Mielonen (Left Alliance) and Krista Mikkonen (Green).

The discussion will focus on the experiences of the citizens of the EU from the EU

The discussion event organized on Saturday 25.5.2024 May XNUMX in the morning will also focus on EU themes. Head of International Affairs of the city of Imatra Tea Laitimon according to the debate, the focus will be on how the citizens of the municipality experience the EU in their own lives.

- We have opened a survey through which everyone can ask EU-related questions and experiences as well as wishes for the new EU parliamentarians. The themes of the discussion session are selected based on the answers to the survey.

The questions and wishes sent in advance will be used both in the discussion session and in the EU election panel. For the survey can answer until Friday 10.5.2024 May XNUMX.

The discussion event and the EU election panel are part of Imatrankoski's summer opening. The EU-related discussion starts at 9.15:13.30 a.m. in Imatrankoski's Inkerinaukio and the EU election panel at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. on the Koskenpartaa stage. The events are hosted by a journalist and creative director from Parikkala Jani Halme.
