Ashen cookies are added in different parts of the city during the spring
The reason behind the increase in landfills is the EU's single-use plastic directive, or SUP directive. The SUP abbreviation comes from the words single use plastics.
- One of the goals of the SUP directive is to reduce the environmental impact of certain plastic products, such as cigarette butts, he says city gardener Erika Luhtanen from the city of Imatra.
Ash trees appear in the cityscape in public areas.
- We add ash sprinklers to markets and parks, for example. Hopefully, in the future, the stumps will end up in the trash and not in nature, says Luhtanen.
Installation of ash dumps will begin this spring and continue for the next couple of years.

It's a great thing!…
It's a great thing! If only next summer we could get those where people sitting in the parks can leave empty cans for those who collect them, then the ditches would stay even cleaner. Unfortunately, not everyone wants to take them to the store themselves. Great reforms from the city!
