Sanna Hämäläinen has been elected as the environmental manager of the Imatra region

The environmental action of the Imatra region will have a new leader in April. A graduate engineer has been elected to the position Sanna Hämäläinen.

- There were a total of 12 applicants for the position, two of whom later withdrew their applications. We interviewed five applicants and two were tested, the environment manager's predecessor, the service director Arja Kujala says.

Hämäläinen will start in his new position on April 3.4.

- I come to work at Imatra with an enthusiastic mind. After working years in industry, it is interesting to work in a different operating environment, says Hämäläinen.

He has worked in industry for twenty years in both pulp and composites. The tasks are focused on environmental issues and production. Most recently, Hämäläinen has been the factory manager of Vitrulan Composites Oy in Mikkeli. Before that, the employer was Metsä Fiber and Metsä Group.

Hämäläinen graduated from LUT University with a Master's degree in chemical engineering. In his studies, he focused on environmental protection and equipment technology.

Imatra is a familiar city to Hämäläinen, who lives in Joutseno. He and his family spend a lot of free time in Imatra.

The former position of environmental director of the Imatra region's environmental department will be changed to the position of environmental manager. Up until now, the official responsibility has been handled by shared positions, which have been handled by the environmental inspector and engineer in addition to their own work.

The Imatra region's environmental action is in charge Imatran, Parikkala, Rautjärvi ja Ruokolahti in the region, the municipalities are responsible for environmental protection and environmental health care, including veterinary care.
