Imatra has installed remotely readable water meters since 2016. The first water meters were changed for renovation projects. The purpose is to bring the entire city of Imatra within the scope of distance learning in about ten years.
Approximately 2025 meters have been replaced by January 6. Approximately 000 meters are replaced per year.
Changing meters is done as a continuous job. In practice, the meter exchange is carried out by Imatra's Property and Area Service Kipa.
The work is free.
Water bills for remotely readable water meters are based on actual consumption. Imatran Vesi reads remotely readable water meters by billing period so every three months by distance learning.
Readings on the display of a remotely readable meter
The last three digits on the display of a remote-readable water meter indicate the total water consumption in liters. The four digits on the bottom row indicate the current consumption.
Interpretation of remotely readable meters
There are two types of meters that can be read remotely: in 2016-2020, different meters were installed than from 2021 onwards.
The reading of a remotely readable water meter is only reported for billing in exceptional cases.
Such situations include, for example, when the owner of the property changes, a tenant is taken on the property or the tenant of the property changes. In this case, the customer must indicate the exchange date and water meter reading on the invoicing, and in the case of a change of ownership, a completed transfer notice or a copy of the deed of sale. In this case, it is good to state all eight numbers of the water meter, i.e. also liters.
