The replacement of water meters with remotely readable meters continues at Imatra

After the change, the customer does not have to report the water reading for water billing.

Imatran Vede's water meters will be changed to remote-readable ultrasound meters this year as well.

This spring, the meters will be changed in places such as Karhukallio, Karhumäki, Suo and Tainionkoski.

-You can check where updates are made from the disruption map on our website, network master of Imatra Water Kari Mäkelä says.

The meter replacement is done by Imatra's Kipainteistö ja Aluepalvelu Kipa. Kipa approaches the residents by letter, after which the residents can book an exchange time that suits them according to the instructions in the letter.

The work is free. During the work, valid corona guidelines are followed.

The readings of the remotely readable meter do not need to be reported

After the change, the customer does not have to report the reading of the water meter, instead the water billing receives the information reading automatically.

The new meters also help to detect water leaks.

- You can check on the meter screen if the water consumption is continuous around the clock, and the information about the continuous flow also comes to us. For example, during the beginning of the year, we have contacted more than ten customers whose water consumption has risen unexpectedly and whose water leakage has been discovered, says Mäkelä.

The first remotely readable meters were replaced for customers in 2016. Now 2500 meters have been replaced, which is about a third of all replaced meters.
